Endless Earth

 Sophie Hunsberger

Lyrics:

She dances even in my fitful sleep

And shines my tears with her pink moonbeams

She’ll paint the dead as their children weep

Begging for peace

An artist’s work is never done

Battering rain like the soldier’s drum

Every war’s a battle: never truly won

Against our brutal sun

“What a day, what a year, what a life,”

We huff and whine into the sky

She’ll never answer she can only cry

Until the end of time

Wrestle the present for the rest of our lives

But the moment never truly dies

It sprouts wings that circle our minds

Before it swoops and dives

Fresh meat, fresh love, fresh wound

Before I even met you

This love’s a shadow sun shines right through,

right through
